Does your local PSB limit the time you can teach in one Universty, School or College. Someone told me, you have to work in another county after 4 or 5 years for at least 6 months, after that, the PSB will re-issue you with a residents permit. BTW, I work in Zhejiang province.

BTW, does it it only apply to western teachers, I knew someone who was from japan, they were here for over 9 years.
I've never heard of anything like that. As long as you have a job the PSB shouldn't bother you.
Different rules for different cities and different provinces, in Guangzhou no such rule exists... Another annoying policy in china how something that should be done by the central government and should only have one standard enforced equally throughout the country is all over the place and seldom makes sense.
Thanks for your answers, thinking about it, it was probably a way of not renewing a certain teachers contract....subtle approach if you know what I mean
That is pretty aamazing, sounds like they want you to exit. I'm a legal advisor PT for a well known foreign based international law firm based in TJ. We have a license in every major city, I asked my boss about this for each city is different but he said that would be impossible, find another school and say your good byes my friend, be nice keep cool.

Thanks for your reply, but it wasn't me they did it too! I have asked them about it and I think they know that I know they are lieing a little bit. If they do it to me I will see the picture! As they say it is not what you know, but, who you know!
no no no nothing like that at all, you had been misguided.
I renewed my residence permit last month for staying with my wife. Same procedure as before, except this time they were able to offer me 1-3 years at the discretion of the issuing officer, sadly my visa expires in 18 months so was only able to get the 1 year!

Just curious. Do you scroll page by page back 2 years looking for posts to reply to? Or do you search out 2 year old posts? How did you find this?

Scandinavian: Right, my passport ends in 18 months
Mike: I think I clicked on answer of the day, I didn't bother to check when it was asked! haha
icni77: Where are you from?
