Fap it is a reality and there are a lot of people that do it. In fact, some prisoners in China are even forced to gold farm on WoW to make money for prison leaders. Here is an article one it.

WoW gold mining is common in China. Apart from prisons some legitimate companies also do gold mining...but it is not just on WoW, they also do this on other online games.
