Q: Music scene in Beijing?

I'm really clueless about this, and have no idea where to go...

Any recommendations for good local bands or bars where I can hear some decent music? I'm mostly into alternative rock (not too loud), jazz and ambient stuff...

Beijing has quite a vibrant music scene.
- Yugong Yishan is great for attracting big-name local bands and international bands. Peaches played there last year for example.
- Mao Livehouse focuses more on local rock bands and it's usually full of Chinese kids sporting their nirvana t-shorts moshing.
- D22 is another music mainstay. They also heavily support the local music scene and university bands etc. although their monthly line-up is kinda repitive.
- Jiangjinjiu and Jianghu bar are good for folk and acoustic sets.
- 2Kolegas is another good live music venue and they seem to feature a lot of reggae and ska this summer, but they also put on rock and grunge shows as well as DJs.
- For jazz, the best spot is East Shore Jazz Live Cafe in Houhai, Hot Cat Club or CD's by Agricultural Exhibition Center.

They have live music inside the Brazilian Restaurant in the SOlana Mall. Last time I went there they had a female and two male musicians playing while everybody was eating and enjoying the music. They should still do that there you can expect to see them perform every night!

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
