I am desperately looking for a job but on a valid visa. how is it possible? I did my Ph.D in Physics and also 120 hour TESOL certified. As i am from non-native English speaking country (Pakistan), I heard that I cannot get Z visa in China. Anyone have any news about it or anyone can help me to find a job or anyone know any city, where I can get a job and a work permit too?

here is my e.mail. sonykhan007@hotmail.com. suggest me something, if you really have any solution.
There are many Non-Native English teachers, working legally in China with Z visa.
Few Schools in Guangzhou told me last week, that could be problem to extend my Residence permit, because I'm Non-Native.
I guess, some big cities in China require FT comes from big 5 (Native English speaker), but considering demand in China for FT, you could get Working permit elsewhere.
Z visa is not a problem as I have one along with RP and FEC. I am also from Pakistan. You need to find an employer. Do not worry for the Z or RP once you get an employer you will get everything.
In which city are you right now and what position are you looking for? ESL, darn don't go for it if you hold a Ph.D in Physics.

i am in Xi'an right now and looking for a physics/Maths teaching position. Where are you working?
As per your nationality, it is not easy to apply for work permit . but you got phd, so it is not a problem then. As a teacher, it is not easy for you to apply for it. 1st, many of schools are clined to hire british, American. 2nd, it is hard to apply for foreign expert certificate to work as teacher.
anyway, good luck then.
Unfortunately, from what my colleagues have suggested to me in the past, there seems to be an abundance of physics teachers around, but not so many maths or economics teachers around.
You should easily be able to get yourself a job in any international school.
You may even be able to pick up a job in a Sino-<country> university program, where you'll teach whatever, and then write papers to get published, and then give kudos to the university. But don't expect a great pay!
