You can exchange in any Bank of china branch but up to 500 USD per day is the limit for a foreigner. For other banks, it depends on branch to branch ..

China Merchants Bank apply 'no fee spot exchange rate', 100 000 Rmb limit/year, if you open Gold account with Visa/MC logo with as low as 1000 Rmb deposit.

Type 'laowai friendly bank' in search above for more details on CMB.

You can only make it through Bank of China. Daily limit for curreny conversion is 500 USD. For more details please contact your branch. If you want to get USD, you need to inform the bank one day in advance.

A:I'm prepared to give the guy some slack. He asked a few shifty questions in 2012 then went dormant for 5 years and suddenly appears asking newbie questions. A bit suss but who knows, he could just be a moron. Benefit of the doubt given.
