Probably depends on what passport you carry. My EU passport lets me walk straight in, they stamp you passport and then you are good to go..... to the exit of the airport where you then need to take a one hour bus ride to Seoul.

Make sure to try Korean BBQ, try to go for the mid range places, where normal people go after work to eat.

Seoul has a thing I haven't seen anywhere else in the world (not that I've looked) indoors amusement parks. There is some old stuff to look at, but mostly like any other modern big city. It is the biggest city in the developed world. Be prepared to NOT get ripped of by the taxi drivers.

It's easy to pass time in Seoul, ask Google for help on what to do. And of course, go to the Gangnam district.....

Why do you need to cross a border?

Jeju is awesome, my favorite place in Asia, however at this time of year not so fun.  My friend lives there now, said its miserably cold.  If you are going to hang a bout a bit, eat bbq, black boar, eat at paris baguette, at ribs and spicy ramen, and bbq chicken.

Yes you can exchange money at the airport.

Personally I would exchange outside a bank here on the "black market" usually some bloke standing outside with all sorts of cash.  You can get a better rate from him and no fee.

Jeju island is part of South Korea, once you get through immigrations and customs there you shouldn't have any problems going to Seoul.

Seoul is my heart. You will love it there.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
