Q: University question: 16 lessons= 16 teaching hours?

I'm wondering what normal is for universities because my employer is trying to tell me that a lesson could be anything from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, so essentially I could be teaching up to 30 hours a week under the 16 "lessons" stipulation. The only real reason this is so bothersome is because I just found out they will be expecting me to do classes in the mornings, afternoons and evenings all in one day and they have placed me in an apartment that is an hour bus ride away from the school.....

What is the standard time for a lesson at your school?

Jeez, your not tied down with EF are you?

I teach at a uni, I have 13 classes a week which amounts to 26 teaching hours. These lessons are classed as double periods and last 80 minutes each, so, effectively I teach 26, 40 minute classes.

I was at a college last year and the same deal there although bizarrely enough, the afternoon classes were always ten minutes longer from those in the morning. I was always intrigued as to why but I didn't want to get involved in the never ending, 'yeah, but why?' loop

What unis you guys teach at? 1 lesson is 1 teaching hour 40-50 minute period. Or whatever your contract states.

Consult your contract. If your contract does not clearly specify that, send an email detailing the problem and inform them that your understanding is that 1 lesson is 1 teaching hour. If they can not accept that request your release documents.

SStart applying at training schools for 6 month positions.

Yeah, a teaching hour at my uni is forty-five minutes.  Ninety minute teaching hours? Screw that!

The moment I signed my contract, my boss said: "By the way, 25 teaching hours means 25x90 minute lessons. A teaching hour is 90 minutes. Ask anywhere." The funny thing was, My total working hours per week were 34, and 25x90 minutes = 37.5 hours. I didn't discuss it with him; the school is relatively new anyway, so I don't teach anything near 25 hours.
Bosses will say a lot of things. If they make it highly impractical for you, you need to be adamant about fair treatment. My wor4k also tried to let me do multiple shifts in a day, and I don't live an hour away like you. I still refused. 1 day, 1 shift. No bullshit.

1 teaching hour is 45-60 mins. 1 lesson might be 2 teaching hours.

Anything else is complete BS!

Since Coin just signed his contract, he's well within the probation period Smile So, quit! I mean, I'd do it on principle. Cos, quite obviously, that boss is an arsehole who treats his FTs like shit (telling this immediately after signing.. he knew what he was doing! And he knew he was being a right prick!!)

Anonymous OP (who should be ignored, for being anonymous... I mean, how hard is it to register??? Besides, if you choose to reply here, you still have to have an account!) - no, your 'university' is full of shit! I mean, not only as far as hours/lesson, but also this 'night' crap! It's a uni... we don't teach at nights!

A:Your potential employer is right! Demand for Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China, it would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after arrival to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
