In China are one years old when you are born. So do you add one or two year to your age when telling people in China or do not?
A Chinese university professor told me to tell them that I am er bai woo (250). That makes the questioner laugh because it means I am a fool, and then they forget to ask me my real age.
I just tell them my real age, I was born in 1953 so by my reckoning I am 61. 62 in a couple of weeks time. Why not tell people the truth, I am not vain enough to lie about it.

What I tell anybody (except friends in relevant conversations)...
My body is made from the dust of stars that died billions of years ago. My soul has been around since before creation. Everything else is irrelevant.
I am a person, not a number - and I refuse to be judged - and have my actions and behaviour judged - based on a number.

well, someone (a youngster) did say after that "oh, you're THAT old"!
Many ask that question in China, I do not know why. My reply is always take a guess. No one yet has come close, but I will reply when they answer that was a close guess, no matter what number they mention.

That's what I do. They usually guess about 8-10 years young, which is good.
How old are you ?!!

P.S. If we know your age, only then can we suggest what age to tell !!
