In the UK it is illegal to shoot swans because they all belong to the Queen and in Alabama you cannot open an umbrella on the street according to the law. Are there similar ridiculous laws here?
12 years 2 weeks ago in Visa & Legalities - China
A car cannot stop at the crosswalk even if a pedestrian is crossing.
You are not allowed to use indicators when driving.
Queuing orderly is punishable by death
You set yourself up for this one man
For me I think the most stupid one is its illegal to have your baby delivered in a Chinese hospital if you're not married.
AND the new one, you must have 2 years work experience abroad for a work visa. That means anyone who goes to a Chinese uni has to go home for 2 years after
Thakkudu:
2 years for a work visa?... new rule?.. i came in to china with a work visa .. with just 6 months experience after university...
xunliang:
check forself if you dont believe me. theres a couple of posts about this on here. I cant be arsed to discuss the same thing over and over.
jleav14782:
The posts on here are not legitimate sources. The only legitimate sources say nothing about two years' previous working experience. Mind you, I am not saying that such a thing could never happen, but merely that your sources are illegitimate. Until a legitimate source is found that affirms this (and there might very well be one somewhere), this is only a rumor, and ought not to be submitted as something verifiably true. I'm sure your intentions were decent, but rumors are not to be spread on here.
xunliang:
what are you on about? Its not a rumour its true. Ive spoke to a few visa agencies and they've all confirmed it. I went to a job fair and a company there confirmed it. Theres quite a few people on this site that have confirmed it. There are ways around it yes but my point is that this law exists.
Xunliang is correct, this was posted about one month ago.
But to me a ridiculous one is that no woman can be naked inside a hotel room. How would she take a bath ?. Or who would mind or care?. Or why a woman, and not a man ?.
Jnusb416:
Maybe they mean unnecessary nudity. Taking a shower would be necessary nudity, but just laying around naked is bad...? There must be some reason for this that we don't know about.
xunliang:
jnusb are you really that niave? hmmm what kind of (working) woman getting undressed in hotel rooms would interest the police, hmmm that is a tough one.
one is that you will lose your own nationalities and other nationalites you have if you want chinese nationalities
The best one:
An obscure law states that a man cannot eat another man’s wife intentionally as part of a meal – So if it’s not intentional it’s okay!? Or if it’s just as a snack then it’s fine right?
You can't flush toilet paper down the toilet seat! You have to put it in the trashcan instead otherwise it will cause to much clogging and you know how plumbers like to take advantage of those opportunities.
I've actually never seen people using their turn signal so I'm guessing nobody here is taught to use that function on the car.
Oh here is a good one you have to have a working Visa and you have to at least have a B.A degree otherwise your not allowed to work here. So I'm wondering why it is so common to find illegal workers with only a highschool diploma working in China. I guess it's that free ride like the gold rush!
Jnusb416:
The first one isn't a law. The second one you don't even state a law. How is the third one a ridiculous law?

Fish - it's comments like yours that make me wonder why we don't have "Comment of the day" as well.... :p
