Q: What dates are the stores likely to be closed over Spring Festival?

Far as I can work out, everything will be closed on the 23rd, 24th and 25th. Do places like the supermarkets generally open again on the 26th or will they remain closed until the 29th?

In general, many stores will close on Sunday the 22 until Wednesday the 25.  That is the bare minumum.  Yet others may open after the 26, depending on owner.  Of coursee, government offices will be closed longer than minimum.  And most schools will have 3 to 4 weeks off.

The above is true.  In my small provincial town, which is far from wealthy, the open air markets actually close from the first day of spring festival until Lantern Day -- and these are poor people who work in the stands in the market. And Happy is right, here, too -- the government office close a bit longer and when they return to work, it's at least 3 - 4 days before they resume a normal workload.  It's strange, however, but in my city the banks are actually open.  The cash machines may not have cash to withdraw and you can't do complicated items other deposits and withdrawals but the banks are open.
