Q: What is the worst thing you have ever been "urged" to eat by locals?

And did you actually eat it?

Dog meat. There was no way I was putting it my mouth. I stuck to my guns and said "no".

I did not care for the silk worm pupa so much when I first tried it. Its shell was still sort of soft. I then had it stir fried with some of the sensational dried crispy chilli and the shell of the bug was also a bit more crispy. I am now a fan...

crimochina:

it was stir fried by my friends aunt great cook tasted like stuffing

Monkey brains.  It was a bet, I lost.

Runners up: Rat, Deer penis, scorpions, and live water bugs.

DaBen:

All the runners up are no a problem for me... but your winner is the one thing I can't handle.... but it's not the brain part

I see you understand how they are served. It was a major face situation for me. Doing it was probably the biggest regret I have ever had.

I've had my share. The cat, bird and snake wine made me feel manly, but really I just didn't like PIG'S GUMS. There just no taste. Thankfully they extracted the teeth first.

I have been asked to eat chicken feet many times, but I refuse. There are several other things that I can't remember. The most recent was swan meat, which I ate. It was nothing special, a little tough. I just feel bad I ate a swan.

Never did the monkey brains, nor would I.

Chicken feet...hate em!

I do love some snake wine now and again! I even make it myself!

I read that real Chinese food was so good and wanted to eat where real Chinese. I never discovered  anything other than the small loafes of bread that I really liked.I was offered pigs feet, chicken feet, gray gooey looking ducks feet, had a whole cooked rooster head in my meal. eewwww Chinese food is gross out material for Survivor. I wanted noodles and for some reason never had any.I never got my Peking Duck, maybe next time. The  cooked ducks I saw hung in store windows all day, how appetizing? I like to hug and pat my dog, NEVER would I want to see one one a plate. I'd trash a place if I was ever served dog or cat. Monkey brains? WTF I won't even eat head cheese. eewww

I couldn't do dog, cat, or monkey brains on principle (too many pets and that whole method of monkey brains is just too cruel).

Weirdest stuff that I liked:  Cicadas (taste like bacon-wrapped cashews), other insects (quite good actually, but scorpions taste like my bum), that clotted duck blood (yes, I like it)

Weirdesrt stuff that I didn't:  feet from anything, jellyfish, carp (not that weird, but it is NOT a good tasting fish, unless you like mud-taste), donkey and camel.

Stuff I won't eat simply because it's gross:  Durian and chou doufu

Penises, brains, and fish eyes. But the worst was some unnamed, undescribable dish, which was basicly huge chunks of pure fat with some sort of strings inside, in a soup.
I tasted the brain, but refused the penis and that hellish, stringy blob that came from my worst nightmares.

I'm one of those weird guys that enjoys all the different organs and animal parts, and challenge my coworkers to find me new foods to try.  Saying that... the worst snack I've had would have to be a plate of Durian (king fruit, stinky fruit, whatever you want to call it) and a tall glass of cheap baijiu to was it down.

The pile of chicken buttholes or tarantula on a stick is heaven compared to the combination of sewer/ gym sock smell and rotten fruit texture with only bad demon piss to wash is down.

Roasted silk worms in peanut sauce.  Just totally disgusting and a local delicacy where I live.  I will not touch it under any circumstances.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
