I vote for any ploy that some just the least bit of creativity and doesn't follow the mentality of "the more noise I make the better my marketing will be." I refuse to shop anywhere that makes feel feel like my ears are going to bleed from the volume of their 'marketing.'
Attractive woman came up to me and said in broken English that I was cute and wanted to have some coffee at a nearby cafe. I politely refused and walked away. Next day i was walking by again and saw her pull the same stunt on a passing Chinese man. Apparently she worked at the cafe and would lure customers in with her good lucks and coy smile. She almost tricked me!
Hand clapping at the entrance of the shoe, bag, junk etc shop..............think of the market research and the Monday morning motivation meetings.
"Now everyone, let's see some great clapping today, sales are down and the speakers are broken so you must clap harder. Wing Bu, your clapping is deplorable, step it up big boy!"
a model wearing very little standing very still covered in gold paint. i am glad i'm a foreigner i got a picture with her and "accientally" got some gold paint on both my hands
Crimochina,
I saw some of those 'Painted" girls at the Guangzhou tradefair in July with the painted on clothes (nothing apparently underneath the paint). MAYBE it was an optical illusion, who knows?
Geez, what a crowd that drew! It made me laugh and smile! And I don't know if that booth had any increased sales from that advertizing stunt. It may have actually blocked real customers from coming in, but it sure was packed with "curious, horny onlookers"!
crimochina:
mine was in a mall in hohhot, lucky for me while everyone stood and watched i was the only one able to get a picture with her
The two greatest ploys ever known.
Ploy 1. Make sure there are no laws about false or missleading statements about what a product will achieve, or if there are any, ensure they are not enforced.
Ploy 2. Ensure there are huge numbers of the population gullible enough to believe that whatever a comercial says can and will happen, or if it has a well known name it must be good.
Hang on. The west has been doing this for many years. Think women and cosmetics, jewelry, hadbags etc.....
