12 years 9 weeks ago in Family & Kids - China
The ones born today are being raised by the ones from the 80's and 90's. They grew up as a spoiled only child and don't seem to know anything about parenting, so they just give their kids everything they want and don't seem to bother with discipline.
Both are spoiled... and rely on their parents to do everything for them, from laundry to making decisions.
However, the people I know born in the early 80s remember rivers and swimming, playing outside. The little ones now dont have that opportunity.
One of the thing that stands out with me the most regarding the chilren here is just how much their parents want to wrap them in cotton wool. I remember getting a bump or graze when I was a kid, my parents would look at it mostly to see that there was no chance of me trailing blood through the house. Stingey antiseptic and a band-aid or plaster would be applied as appropriate and I'd be on my way. Here, the tiniest fall seems a major disaster!
Surely this is a new thing; such worship of children that they can never be expected to get even a little cut?
