Q: Which cities in China would you consider calling it a tourism city, and why?

China doesn't really have any tourist cities that could compare with the rest of the world. There is little of interest in most Chinese cities.

Most "historical sites" are reconstructions of the real sites that were completely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.  In addition, the sites are dirty, crowded  and expensive. The cities are the most polluted in the world.

There are no beaches, rivers or even swimming pools that are safe to swim in, and no parks where one can walk and enjoy sunshine and fresh air.

The country does not strive to promote tourism, only to devise new scams to cheat foreign visitors. Nearly all tourists who visit China leave disappointed.

I can only think of Guilin, Xi'an, Beijing, Chengdu and Sanya. Of course Hong Kong and Macau could be counted in as well, but they are not really part of China.

I've thought for a long time that Nanning COULD be a real tourist attraction, it has a tropical climate, and is relatively clean (for China), it has  a decent public transport system with a subway being built and some quite good hotels also the people are quite friendly. All it lacks are some tourist attractions and some good marketing.

Plenty of potential here, just needs some investment in facilities.

Hangzhou is supposed to be the best tourism city in China. Another one would be Suzhou.

I like Qingdao for the sailing opportunities, seaside boardwalk activity, one or two beaches (without the creeping seaweed), the delicious seafood and Shandong cuisine (incl fresh, homemade noodles), and the Tsingtao beer museum.  Not much of a nightlife, though.  But I don't care.  I go to bed early as a rule cause I like to get up and watch the sun rise over the ocean horizon at 5 AM these days. (Okay, sea. Not ocean.)

Great to be alive, ain't it?
