I think people in general have a habit of projecting the negative aspects of themselves onto others, and there's nobody easier to do so with than a foreigner.
Because you are brainwashed to think anybody or anything not Chinese is bad....
Agree with above posts. People see what they want to see, and with the us-versus-them attitude being instilled at such a young age, it is not surprising that they think negative of foreigners.
Having lived in China for 5 years by now, I am still taken aback when some small child realizes I look different than the parents [or grandparents] and reacts with fear. In America no small child ever does this upon seeing another person who looks different.
It seems to me that such behavior is instilled by the parents or grand parents at an early age that any non- Chinese [or non-Asian] person is bad for looking different. A sad thing indeed.
hi,not all chinese people do. ok? those who only see the negative side about foreigner usually neithor have little contacts with foreigner or have no contacts with them
it makes for more interesting stories to talk about negative views of a particular group of people. People in China are as negative towards foreigners as people in other countries.
