Q: Why are college students' schedules so screwy?

I don't know if it's just at this college or what, but I can't go more than a week (maybe 2 if I'm lucky) without something changing. For instance, there was a week of military training, a week long sports meet, the freshmen didn't start school until about the third week of the semester...this week one of my classes is at a different time, and another I didn't have at all, and it will be the same thing with different classes next week. Apparently they are doing practice classes for the whole week? Sometimes teachers will change class times and who knows what else. Their schedules are never normal. How do they learn anything?

Sounds a little strange, these irregularities could definitely be linked to your school rather than the chinese system. I've studied in a chinese university during 4 years and appart from the SARS period which changed things a little, the rest of the time my classes schedule was strict and unchanging.
Sounds a little like your school is a little messy indeed.

I wouldn't say college schedules are screwy. I would say it is a judgement of time management. Maybe, if the student manages their time more wisely everything that they would want to do will fit into place. There is study time, fun time, work time etc.,

It's all part of the 'last-minute' culture.

everything else seems normal except someone else resheduleing your classes. someone is dAcking you around. you are the only one who can do that

Well, I understand my class is not as important, so it is easier to move my class or just cancel it, rather than one of their other classes. However, I do think this school is a little crazy with all these things changing so often. It has left me with a week or two of no class, so I can't complain too much.
