By now I have been here in for 5 years but still cannot understand why so many young women - even up to and around age 30 - insist on speaking with a little girl's voice [even though behaving otherwise as an adult]. I even asked some of my Chinese friends [guys] but no one really had an answer and some even told me that they liked this kind of voice. LOL.
Just wait, the show gets better when they start acting like a little Girl ! It is all a part of a thing called SA Jaio (i forget how to write it) It is the Gift handed down from Mother to Daughter that drives every man on the planet nuts. (and some women too) try turning the tables on them sometime on a BCD,......It helps( so does Drinking )

Recently observed a young couple having [seemingly] an argument. He was carrying many shopping bags for her. Then she also handed him her purse [handbag] and began to pummel him, all the while yelling in a very bad language. Truly a 'sa jiao'.
The lack of self control and childishness in many girls drives me crazy too. I tell them no foreign girl beyond the age of 12 behaves like that, so grow up! Many think it is a 'cute' way to behave. How do they expect anyone to take them seriously, especially in the work-place?? And the guys who say they like it: to me it demonstrates they can't handle a mature relationship.
That is how they are spoken to when they are little.
The parent/child relationship is maintained throughout life, or at least until the roles flip when the parent is "old" so no one has respect for him/her anymore.
According to Dr. Drew from Loveline many years ago, this could be (not in all cases) due to child molestation. I'm not going to go into the details.
Some of the Asian men have a tendency toward Younger females. That is why the word lolita(l萝莉)has become so popular among male netizens here. When some women noticed that they could take advantage of males(mostly their bfs of husbands) by their acting like little girls, not just speaking in children's voice but actually behaving like ones, why would they stop? It disgusts me when I see them acting though I am an Asian man.
I think it's a symptom of China being a hugely male dominated society. Back in the 50s in the west, women were 'the little woman' and rarely dared, or were given the freedom to show their worth, so we ended up with female role models like Marilyn Monroe, who famously turned on her 'dumb blonde' routine whenever the cameras rolled. Smart, strong women aren't really invited to the party here yet, and Daddy doesn't want to know if his little princess is actually way smarter than him; neither does the boyfriend or husband, so many women instinctively dumb down. That's my theory anyway. I think the influence of western women in China telling these sa jiao infested girls that their cutesy-pie act is humiliating, is going to inspire a great deal of change though.
Sarsaparilla:
Isn't it clever enough to act that way when their daddy actually buy that so they can get whatever they want from the daddy.........
It could be the marilyn monroe syndrome - If they only knew who she was
Dear Bravo,

I have never noticed women speaking like little girls, nor seen any san jiao. I find many women speak in a soft tone, but not what I would think as a little girl. Screw san jiao, most women have tempers like fire,, period.
