Q: Why Chinese girls make Duck Face?
Wondering why most Chinese girls make Duck Face while taking pictures... ? most profile pics typically are like this.. Also noticed that they mostly tend to take pics from a little higher above their head level which i guess is to make their eyes look bigger.... but this duck face!!... i dont understand..any idea?
My GF insisted on having her pics at her eye level. She always did pose, usually with head tilted. Don't know what duck face is, stuck out lips? Chinese women seem to take having their pic taken very seriously.

Yup, i'm with you guys, no idea. Kind of imagining the three of us staring at the screen making various faces now, trying to guess which one is duck face. Well I am anyway.

I would imagine the "duck face" is like a flat pout. The upper and lower lips are pressed together and they point forward, like of like a (small) duck bill.
it can make eyes more bigger.Many people love to see big eyes girl.i love......lol
Pictorial for us older guys who do not know what a duck face is.....i didnt make it to 25, was pretty bad!!

I have noticed it often and I always wondered why they did it. It does look rather ridiculous.
Maybe it has something to do with making their lips look bigger? I know it's called a duck face, but in its less extreme form, isn't it the same as if you're going to blow a kiss, or a pouty look?

I asked my students yesterday (we had a makeup class). They told me because it is "lovely" (cute).
I then asked the boys if they liked it, most of them said yes.
I was told that the duck face made by the Chinese girls in pics was an exaggerated kissing face, because many Chinese can't do the kissy face or make the kissy sound with puckered lips. Not sure about the validity on this, but I've asked a few friends to show me their best kissy face. It proved an interesting social experiment...many couldn't and I saw a lot of duck faces.
