To tie shoe or look at phone or whatever.... also stop at top of stairs or at bottom or at front of entrance or exit.
Is so dangerous. Want to stop but are people behind me pushing. Why?

Because this is China and nobody except them exist so do what you want when you want
The middle kingdom should be called the self centre kingdom
Scandinavian:
yeah I agree. The Self-Centered Kingdom was already taken though, by many nations or their f'ed up leaders.
or why do they stop in the door?
or why do they stop on a crossroad with their car to unload something?
etc...
guess?
No why!
Expand your question to add: in front of elevator doors, escalators, doorways...Why are Chinese purportedly so good at math and yet they scrutinize their receipts after buying something and have no clue what their purchase( was/were supposed to cost? Why don't people get the taxi fare ready BEFORE they arrive at their destination? I mean, you know when you're close to your destination, so get out the appropriate correct change (or at least close to it) and be prepared to pay the driver. Speaking of taxis, why do Chinese people assume that it is more than fine to stop a few meters to my left to wait for a taxi when I've clearly been standing there for quite some time waiting for a taxi? One-word answer to all of these questions and more: OBLIVIOUS

Or in the shops... all items checked, final price is being show on the display and told to the buyer, : 35,60rmb... ok, than, they open the bag, start searching for wallet and looking for money sometimes even some minutes ...
