Q: Why? Why? Why?
Why are many Chinese so patient when it comes to selecting a single vegetable from hundreds that are almost exactly the same and will waste copious amounts of time doing this but are then so impatient that they cant wait for the 3 people ahead of them in the bus queue to get on the bus?
Why will many Chinese bargain or haggle for local produce or goods at the market but just walk into a store and pay top dollar for over hyped designer goods?
Why do Chinese pay good money for hotel rooms, buy overpriced gifts for friends and rellos while on holiday but still feel the need to knock off the toilet paper ans soap from the room?
Why do they worry so much about the adverse heath effects of drinking cold water but don't give a thought to what smoking 50+ a day does to you?
Why are they so concerned about the cost of things but cannot see the long term savings that good preventive maintenance will bring?
What are your Whys?
That's a lot of logic whys.... and the "L" word is not used around here. Actually you putting all of these in one post is a public health hazard. So poor guy new to China is going to sit down and read these and they with start to eat into his brain. He's gonna start bleeding from the ears and in the morning he's gonna wake up dead. All because you just overloaded his unprepared mind with the massive lack of comman sense used here.

I think whats stated in your question has got nothing much to do with "Chinese" .... its commeon human character.... i have noticed... westerners/africans/asians.. all are similar... one way or other...
Even your question also is a "Why" for many chinese... "Why these louwei's keep on criticising whatever they see... Why they dont just use that time to look at themselfs and correct their own many many Why's"

Why do stores announce they sell cigars, and even have a list of different brands and prices, yet when you try to buy them they tell you that they dont sell them?
Why do they insist a wallet maked 80 Yuan in a shop really costs 200?
Why is it so hard to find a bar that does not double as a brothel?

True story I wanted to buy cigars, and when I realized that it was not going to happen that day, I decided then to buy a pipe and tobacco, since they had a rather large selection of pipes. Tiny metal ones, wooden ones, birar ones they even had a couple of meerschaums. However, when I asked about tobacco, the sales lady gave me a box of expensive chinese cigarettes. When I said pipe tobacco, she told me to crumble the cigarette into the pipe!! She was surprised I did not buy anything....
Westerners do all the same crap just not all at once that’s why, westerners get confused. A Westerner does one of those things it is a bit odd they do all of them it is crazy, so why would everyone do them. High context countries seem a lot weirder than they are.
