Admin is getting lazier by the day .
Now they don't even post links to their topics.

Stiggs:

I saw a headline somewhere but didn't care enough to read it further. I think it was some sort of protest about their (NK's) latest missile test or something.

Even when they say they're doing something to punish NK, I suspect it's for the international press and behind the scenes nothing really changes.

trunch:

i was under the impression that it was the missile issue and the killing of kim jong nam together that was putting pressure on china to do something. that's what happened last time, they said there would be sanctions, but everyone just kept trading under the radar through shenyang. but this time people seem more on edge to me because of the nature of the way in which kim jong nam was killed.  i just saw the headline and wasn't sure if it would continue to be the same as the last time or if there'd be a legit change in policy this time

No, ever heard of backdoors and corruption and deceit when talking about china?

CCP will increase purchase of other minerals from North Korea, under the table which is their favorite spot.

This was about doing something "nice" for Trump and Xi political relations.

I think that any country, state or for that matter continent that has an adjoining counterpart with a common name and only differentiated by a direction can not be trusted. I not just talking about North and South Korea, I'm talking about the Carolinas, the Dakotas and even the Americas. You just can't trust any one of them because they don't have any originality or imagination.

Trump has already said that if China does not get North Korea to behave, he will squeeze China on trade issues. This is just the beginning, cutting off 40 percent of the income to North Korea by not buying their coal. Killing the puppet brother that China had as a backup plan to take over was not a good idea. China does not want unification and American troops on a border with China, just like Russia does not want NATO troops on their border with Ukraine. They may want a new leader but squeezing the money in hopes of some military guy overthrowing the country is wishful thinking.

I suppose having a dictatorship is better than a family dictatorship, any family dictatorships still exist any where in the world besides North Korea?

China is trying to throw Trump a bone for agreeing with the one China policy. Obama killed the coal industry in China and Trump wants to restart it. The USA has the cleanest burning coal in the world called anthracite. China can also put pressure on NK to calm down and not start a World War while cleaning more of its own air. China wins with peace as it is economically winning through out the world.

Shining_brow:

That "cleanest burning coal in the world" still dumps VASTLY MORE pollutants into the atmosphere than any of the non-fossil alternative...

Sort of like saying that smoking low nicotine cigarettes is healthier for you... but compared to a non-smoker, it's sort of meaningless!

North Korea is probably the world's most isolated country. We are getting almost no information about it and we don’t really know what's happening there.

Ok. Let’s assume that China banned the import of coal from North Korea, but I don’t think that Russia has done likewise. If you look on a map there are border posts where borders of the DPRK, China and Russia converge-therefore, would it be difficult for some creative officials to “export” coal to Russia before re-exporting now Russian coal to China? Of course, nobody will hear about it. The lip-service has been done, the culprits condemned and everything returned to standard mode of operation. It’s only a simple example of things that can possibly happen. Moreover, 99.9999% of information concerning dealings of China with N.K. are clandestine. As a result there are billions of ways to outsmart the foreign devils. Therefore my answer to the question is it won’t.

The CPC is trying to reduce coal use in many parts of China to reduce pollution. What a great way to keep the Chinese businesses happy, appease the Americans (punish Kimmy) and reduce pollution. May be they CPC is catching on.
