Yes, I am free by hours:
'from 4:15pm on Friday till 7pm on Monday' (Sat, Sun, Mon).
However, just after I got holidays/free time text, another Chinese teacher called me, if I would be judge in some English competition on Sunday. Some Chinese teachers live on Campus and they are bored/busy with activities during the holidays.
I'll explain meaning of 'holidays/free day' in English this pm.
I'll go somewhere close by, Kunming maybe.
royceH:
Kunming's good. Think about making it your next home. If I wasn't still in XJ I'd be in Yunnan.
icnif77:
I flew over with stop in Kunming two weeks ago. They sell very expensive hong cha, what is understandable, since Yunnan is tea country. It's very expensive Province (20 Rmb for 1l water on Airport), just so you know, if new job offer will come your way. Pay must be higher then elsewhere.
I'll see, if I can reach Kunming by bus in 3-days off, but will sure make longer holidays there, after my return from India this summer.

I am staying home, but expecting the step daughter from Shenzhen....sure she will lead us to some new spots here in Zhanjiang. she always does know more about this town than MOM does and it sure does change every few months.
I will have sunday off for this auspicious day! OMFG a day off on a weekend when I can see some of my friends!!!
Unfortunately, I work for a Chinese company and because we get a national/worldwide public holiday off, we lose one of our regular days off. Yin wei mei you shen me!!!
I have an agreement with my British boss that I work Chinese public holidays and take the days off at a time of my choosing. So I've just got Saturday and Sunday off as usual.
Heading to Macau Saturday morning to go the horse races and then spend the night eating a drinking. A mates 50th. Just need to drive to ZS first to meet the guys.
royceH:
Very good one! I want to go to the races. At the races the go is to bet and drink. Back a winner and it's a bonus.
Free tip: Back the Aussie jockeys.
Hotwater:
First priority will be drinking though I'll probably throw away HK$100 on each race and a long shot accumulator. Back the Aussies? Nah...I'll just choose names that sound good!
royceH:
So, on your head beit! Don't say you weren't given a leg up. Good luck!
My wife and I are driving to Lake Monster (Kanas Lake), which is in Altai Prefecture, adjacent to the Mongolia/Russia/Kazakhstan/China border.
Hoping like hell we won't be going with a million others as well.
Wife says the hotel will have running water and a toilet and shower. We'll see...
icnif77:
You don't need Tourist visa for Kazakhstan. I wanted to go last summer there, instead Pak.
We are working in China and have great opp. to visit surrounding countries, but most of them are PIA visa wise.
Have great trip and let car serves you well!
royceH:
Yeah, thanks. It does sound like it's very beautiful up there but the weather forecast is grim. Cold and rainy. Which is what it's like now here in KM. We're only 350k south of the Altai Mtns but on the edge of the Jungaer Basin. So what we've got here is desert and snowy mountains.
We're planning for the worst weather and I'll carry gear to cover every contingency.
On Sunday we hope to spend 8/10 hrs walking along the lake and hopefully we'll find the 1000 steps that'll take us up high enough to see forever.
If we spot the monster I'll post a pic as proof.
Happy days!
