    Hey,

Getting straight to point---mostly depends on your qualification and experience (unfortunately, not always the case in China). I don't need to mention that language is definitely the basic criteria. There are many Indians working here in different sectors (check the consulate website to get in touch with them). Many Indians are working as teachers as well- English, Math, Business,...

yes i had the same problem with my phone when i first came. I had a Note 3 that only provided Edge connection on a 3G plan using China Mobile. I switched to Unicom and it worked fine.

For internet speed and bundles go for unicom. For cheap local use go for China mobile. Although imo China Mobile is crap.

This depends on whether your wife has a local Shanghai resident card (not Hukou).

My wife's hukou is rural Jiangxi, very small village.

She's lived in Guangzhou for 18 years now, paying taxes here. So she has a Guangzhou resident card (not Hukou). She's allowed to go to Hong Kong without being part of a tour group. For Macau she can get passes, though...

Maybe this post was relevant 3-4 years ago but go to booking.com and pick any random city in China and you can find hotels to book at normal prices. I'm looking at a smaller city in Anhui and I see rooms I can book online for $20 US...130 RMB/night.

I would be very surprised if Erin_B up there was too incompetent to figure that out but somehow was organized enough to rent...

If my time in Iraq didn't change my view of Muslims, then a few years in PRC certainly won't.

They are people, and Trump is a Saturday Morning Cartoon villian.

"I am Victoria, what's your name? Where are you from? It's my first time in this bar. How do you like it?"

They probably thought you were just there to practice on your English. Ya see, us westerners grow quite tired of the same ole textbook questions you Chinese ask us. We can spot ya a mile away.[in other words, we arent here for a free English conversation class in a non-...

Just a thought, If you are new in China, and can't speak Chinese... get in touch with the international schools and Universities and explain your skills/qualifications. Most probably if they have a curriculum for sports they would probably hire you. Or if not, at least it will give you some connection or possibly some idea where to look...  I am not into, well... anything related to...

ive used Unionpay at some banks in the USA that take it. it is also valid in vietnam, and the philippines. i suspect it is also valid in thailand and singpaore. ive been keeping up with "unionpay" for around a year. supposedly they are integrating with citi group (aka citibank, et. al.).  also, i have used unionpay at some walmarts in south central usa.  it still hit and miss...

to me, its never a bad thing to use your best judgement...regardless of what others think or say. As the movie with alec baldin, and that fella from silence of the lambs (cant think of him name at the moment). "People often die from shame". meaning, they didnt think things through, and it caused their premature death. continue to be wise my friend, no harm in it.

I've driven drunk before and am not proud of it and would never do it again. No reason to put yourself and people around you in danger. I've never driven in China and never would. I couldn't handle the madness. So no I sure as hell would never drink and drive in China.

the good students who applied themselves here in china seem to do well when they get to canada, but the deadbeats are still deadbeats.

i am surprised that none of my students have bothered to get a drivers license and none have tried to play any sports in canada, they usually do a year and half in high school and then move on to a college in canada.

Some are good and some are bad, some are beautiful and some are ugly, some are smart and some are naive, etc... just like everywhere else.

I have met girls here who are only after money, I have met other girls who couldn't give less of a damn about money.

The foremost usually end up marrying an abusive and overweight rich man who is twice their age, they are unhappy in their life...

when i first arrived in China in 2012 in Chengdu. I had a conversation with a fella in his mid 20s, and he said that his grandparents are in like a "perpetual  culture shock" within their own country. They were awed, amazed, confused, stressed, shocked, dumbfounded, etc. simply due to the rapid changes in infrastructure, technology, standard of living, quality of living, wealth generation...

I would suggest to continue west to Chengdu and then south a little to Kunming or Guilin.

But honestly, a lot of people are right on the money. Taking them traveling during this busy holiday period will most likely be disastrous. You should take them to a small town or village and let them experience China the proper way.

You can't get Z in China. You must exit China, most likely to your home country or HK (if you're lucky!), and apply for Z at Chinese Embassy.

    1. Sign Contract with employer, which must be authorised to hire foreigners;

    2. Employer will apply for your Working permit and Invitation letter at SAFEA (Foreign Expert Bureau). It will take around 30 days or less to get...
