Q: can ur kids speak English and Chinese?
am married to a chinese lady and we have 2 kids a boy and a girl . jason is 3 and half and jessica 1 yr and half . they are good in chinese but not in the habbit of speaking English.am worried. any of you guys married to a chinese have same problem?

It's natural that they will speak Chinese more than English because the environment compels them to do so. Your wife will speak to them in Chinese, your in laws and relatives too. So unless you spend more time with the kids speaking English, they will grow up with Chinese as their mother tongue.

Don't mean to be to harsh, but based on the level of English you displayed in your OP, your kid's are gonna be monolingual.

There are lots of non-native English speakers from other countries in China. We don't need this crap here.

Yes, both but of course English still needs some touching up, their chinese is native.
One solution is bring them back to your home country where everybody speaks English.
Make them talk to you in English. This is how I encourage kids to maintain two languages at home. If they ask you something, make them ask in English and eventually they will get into the habit of speaking in English with someone.
If mommy is Chinese speaking and Daddy is English speaking children will be both. A child can easily handle more than one language at a time. Make sure they have enough exposure to your language.
Don't worry about it. My daughter is coming up to two years old. She can only speak a few words. But she understands four languages. She understands Scottish English, Mandarin, Cantonese and home town. Thinking about it.... she is learning Scottish Mandarin too because Mandarin is not spoken in our house apart from when i try it.
Keep your children here dude. When it comes to school time, ask the local schools how much they will pay for your children to attend.
Devil's Advocate here. Maybe it sounds harsh, but if someone has poor English ability, then it will be harder to teach his or her children English. It's not meant to be discriminatory against non-English speakers (and I don't know which country the original poster is from). I'm not a native Chinese speaker, and if I married another non-Chinese speaker, it would be hard to raise them speaking Chinese. I'm not judging the OP for not learning English as a first language, just saying not knowing English like a native speaker (or a high enough level) would hamper the ability to teach it to children. I'd say the same thing about Chinese to non-Chinese speakers.
