Q: think of them as stalkers not trolls or wumaos or losers?
I was walking back from lunch the other day when 2 local nut jobs took my photo. I gave them the finger and called them a fitting term. They smiled almost as if they were aroused and said, 'yes yes thank you'. Sadly this is too often the case. Insults give them a 3 inch woody. Then it occurred to me they are more than just losers, they are stalkers.
What is the best way to deal with a stalker? Ignoring them is their kyrptonite.
The same is true for the trolls and wumaos, you may think hurling insults or pointing out how foolish they are will make them look stupid. But it is porn to them.
You have to remember the cultural reference of kryptonite doesn't work. They think it's good like wearing jade or something.
I agree. Most people should Ignore them.
But me? Nope. NOPE. NOPE. I'm going Hulkshit on them. They know never to do it again when they've been Hulked.
No, the best way to deal with a stalker is to break their legs....
But, yeah, wumaos and losers you ignore.
Ha, the sneaky photographers ! I feel it's very hard to deal with this here, loose-loose situation, no matter what you do.
* Explain that you are not okay with this, quietly & politely => you'll be totally ignored ("what ! nothing happened !")
* Explain that you are not okay with this,showing your anger => they will pretend they don't understand and laugh ("look, he is loosing face ! ha ha !")
* Go take a picture of the offender => he will giggle
* Ignore them, thus implicitly signaling it's okay to photograph people
You can't win, checkmate before you played. Smart ? Well, it's the kind of behavior that can't allow trust and altruism to flourish, one cheap personal victory at a heavy social price...

Haha the other day I was on the shanghai metro, pretty empty at the time, and a youngish fairly respectable looking couple (i.e. definitely not villagers just gawking at the first white person they'd seen) sitting across from me were videotaping me as I sat there.
I could tell from the reflection in the window behind them.

I'm positive that I wasn't doing anything interesting, just listening to headphones.
Feign interest in their picture taking. Claim you want to see the picture, to see if it's a good one or not (hao kan ma? 好看吗 ?). Take control of the offender's device, delete said picture. 不好看.....
With the amount of CCTV cameras in China, I'm on camera most of the day anyway, so a few nut jobs taking a picture of me isn't worth bothering about...
Cameras are everywhere here so once it's all declassified I don't mind rather put a weird smile on my face

Why they stalk you ?
I always have a dslr in my bag. If the candid photographer is cute I get my big un out to photograph them.
They normally run away giggling.
