Let’s talk about purpose, values and dreams.
Getting through each day without a serious setback.
Having someone to share the adventure with.
I really value a Cold Beer but in China that's practically a dream.
ScotsAlan:
I like the way you capitalize "Cold Beer".
That's a real show of respect for God's best invention .
Well, it WOULD be nice to be able to get through a day without wanting to destroy the human race at some point.
...but it's just a dream.
For me, it's doing something that helps someone else and enjoying the heck out of what I do. nothing more.
I am in my mid 40's now, and if you had asked me that question 20 years ago you would maybe have got a similar answer to my answer today. But when I was 25 I would not have understood my answer as I do now. Hell, I probably would not have understood the question given the rampant hormones I had flowing towards my knob in those days.
Enjoy your life. It's the only one you have. But do it without stepping on people.
My key value....... when I finally wake up dead.... I want to have a clear conscience.
It would be good to be missed. But I would hate for people to feel sadness at my passing.
a dream.. a goal .. and happiness .. sometimes the dream and the goal are not coming...can be happy trying to get there.
Without breathable atmosphere, life is really hard, as in, die within 4 minutes. A reliable drinkable water supply is a good second, without that you can last maybe 3 days. Then comes food. Beyond that, the sky's the limit, as far as you stay bellow 9000 meters above sea level.
ScotsAlan:
To be at that altitude you must be standing on the shoulders of giants Dr M. The view must be fantastic.
DrMonkey:
Or under a balloon. The first people who tried felt sick around 6000 meters, but that was in the early 1800's I think, when gases and human respiratory system were poorly understood. With proper preparation (altitude tolerance developed by spending days in a low-pressure atmosphere) and clothing, you can reach 8000 meters. You won't feel that good, but you won't faint as far as you don't strain yourself too much.Just sitting under your balloon, I guestimate that 9000 meters is the limit before you just faint.
The view is great, yeah. A few years ago, there was a fad, hanging a phone (with stuffs to keep it warm) under an hydrogen balloon and let go the whole thing. The phone is programmed to take pictures at regular interval... It's absolutely gorgeous :) I once went as high at 6000 meters, in Sichuan. Boy, that was hard, each step costs you. The view was worth dying for however. Did that with my bro, so happy to share that with him :)
DrMonkey:
@expatlife26 It's the mascot for Youth Olympic Games, that will start in a few days in Nanjing. The mascot looks like a rampaging maniac just after his daily cocaine fix. There's a version where ...it.... holds a shotgun :D
tuff to answer (as there is no one answer)
I suspect it is a matter of perspective~
That lady in Somalia probably thought it was pretty important not to get hanged.
for another person it could be whatever is important to them.
for me,,, nothing on a personal level. I want my daughter and my ex to be healthy and happy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
but for a fun answer,,, here goes...
purpose - cool gf/travel
values- helping the needy/helpless
dreams* - co-pilot a bad-ass airliner (777F maybe)/fk up a thug masquerading under the name of 'freedom-fighter'/stand at South Pole/ride Space X
*most of my dreams come more like nightmares
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.
TedDBayer:
I had to google lamentations, at first I thought laminations. I like layers.
Sex and food, in that order
royceH:
There's a chop in every beer.
And there's nothing wrong with eating the bearded clam. Naturally washed down with a cleanser or three.
The best things in life are free,but you can give them to the birds and bees i want money!!!!
TedDBayer:
wow, yeah, you need money,
now give me money,
That's what I waaaaaaaa---aant, yeah
That's what I want.
