Q: What is your favourite Chinese TV show?

I have decided it is time. It is time to take on the wonderful world of Chinese TV. Hopefully this will speed up my language learning, as well as give me a better understanding of who is who in the celeb world Wink

What are your favourite TV shows, and do you like them because you can follow them in Chinese or do you like them because they are entertaining?

Oh yes. . .I call it "China's nationa 30 minute lie fest" and I lampoon it in my home.

"Today, Xi Jinping took a crap.  Then he wiped his ass.  It was a glorious people's crap and everyone in China loved him doing it.  Then, while he flushed, he sang the national anthem.  In other news, Xi Jinping had morning wood this morning."

My CC teli is fixed on channel 62 (in ex-capital of Fujian). My favorite broadcaster is Bo Yee Poon.

I rarely miss her weather report, however when she's done with report, I always have Q in my head: 'So, what's the weather going to be...?'

I guess, I pay much more attention to her physique than 'content'.

I respect rules! in my lifey. I don't use PNV, because that's classified to 'avoiding (rules)' column, IMO.

It fits 'Spoon', more than 'Poon'. Maybe I should start to speak Hebrew here and there in my daily life!angel

If I would be associated with same named girl, I would nick-name her 'Spoonky'..pron. 'spun-kii'. Or 'choppy'

There's only two TV series I would recommend, 酒店风云 (which is actually a Hong Kong series but you can get it with Mandarin dubbing), and 美人心计 which is one of those emperor's harem shows which once you've seen one you've seen them all.

In terms of "reality" or variety shows  爸爸去哪儿 is popular but the 2nd season on at the moment is crap, and 快乐大本营 is not too bad either.  I've tried watching other shows but they're pretty repetitive or just crap.

The rest is just trash. And bear in mind those 2 tv shows I recommended are the best of a bad bunch, but that doesn't make them good.

The best is the Xi Jinping show. It comes on CCTV at 7pm every evening and myself and my wife get so excited watching it. The excitement comes from the side bet we have on how many times we can hear the chairman's name in thirty minutes. If you like non-serious gambling it is great entertainment. As to the rest of it, the next best IMO is crap and they get steadily worse from then on.
